Life-Saving Electrical Device Being Introduced to the Marketplace
(OVERLAND PARK, KAN.) January 11, 2005 — Millennium Marketing Group, Ltd., an international advertising agency and marketing consulting firm, has joined I.E.T. Labs, of Westbury, New York, in distribution efforts aimed at introducing to the market a potentially life-saving device called the Ground Check®.
Devised to address a specific Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulation 1926.404(b)(iii), the Ground Check® is a battery-operated, wall-mountable testing device that provides a fast and easy way to check extension cords and cord-connected tools for ground continuity to help prevent electrical shock, which, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, accounts for over 300 workplace deaths annually.
Available as an individual unit, or in OSHA-compliant kits, the Ground Check® is ideal for either consumer or commercial use. The individual unit includes the ground wire tester with tape for logging test results. One version of the OSHA compliant kit includes the testing unit and logging tape, as well as a diskette that contains OSHA regulations, a written program for an existing safety manual and job site, toolbox safety meeting forms, and a written log if desired (though not required for compliance). A second kit includes all of the aforementioned, as well as an instructional video. As it provides an overview of how the Ground Check® works in tandem with Ground Fault Circuit Interruption (GFCI) devices to complete the grounding solution for compliance with OSHA regulations, the video serves as an ideal training tool for companies implementing electrical safety programs.
